My Body, My Rights

Why – Purpose and Rationale
My Body, My Rights teaches students about themselves, their safety, and their right to dignity and respect. This Area of Learning is key to Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE), safeguarding and SEMH development.

What – Core Content

  • Self-advocacy and rights

How – Teaching and Learning Approaches

  • Engagement: trusted relationships, emotional co-regulation

  • Environments: calm, consistent spaces

  • Experiences: role play, emotional check-ins, real-life scenarios
    Examples:

  • P1: responding to sensory stories about care, naming feelings

  • P2: emotional recognition, safe adults, boundaries

  • P3: online safety, body changes, appropriate relationships
    Zones of Regulation is used across the school.
