Fox Hollies Special School

Parent Partnership – 'Family Circle'

Family Circle is run by Alison Watson, a parent of a former pupil and also our Chair of 'Friends of Fox Hollies'  and Family Support Worker.

Alison is a real advocate for our parents and feels passionately about the need for parents to support each other.

Family Circle meets each half-term during the school day and is a supportive space in which parents can get together to share questions, worries, frustrations and pride that they experience in parenting a child with SEN. We also provide the refreshments!

Training, workshops, visiting speakers  and staff-led sessions are planned into these meetings to give families a better insight into strategies used in school to support their children with learning and communication and give feedback to school.

Alison will also help families to access other avenues of support such as short breaks, respite and benefits available.

We encourage our families to visit Family Circle. Our parent governors also regularly attend and will be a voice for parents should they want their views representing at Governors' meetings. Our staff also value coming along and listening to parents to help us to further develop and improve our offer in school.

Family Circle has come to play a central part in the life of our school by bringing all the members of our community together to listen to the people who know our pupils best – their parents.

Please look out for details of our next event and if you would like to come along we would love to see you there!
